I wrote an article about this car a while back, click here to read it, wonderful evocative shot isn’t it!;

Around the mid-60s I read a paperback novel that was based on a young mechanic who prepared his own old Holden and so impressed the well to-do ‘Entrant’ that he was given a drive of the team’s Aston Martin Zagarto. This is as best i can remember the details and it always seemed to be the story of Spencer Martin but when I put the question to him he was not aware of such a novel.
Can anyone out there remember the title or the author’s name?
Hi Joe, it does sound like a variation of the spencer Martin story! Am not aware of the book but will ask a couple of the local oracles! Check out my spencer article if you have not, regards, m
