Nick Heidfeld thrilling spectators in qualifying with a touch of what was a drivers stock in trade into the early seventies, oversteer which thrilled the eye if not always the stopwatch…

He was brought in to replace Pedro de la Rosa, qualified 15th and retired after a collision on lap 36 in the race won by Fernando Alonso’s Ferrari F10.
